John Janovsky is in his third season on the IUP coaching staff. His duties include on-floor coaching during practices and games, recruiting, scouting, video exchange and assisting with administrative duties.

Janovsky has two years of coaching experience and was a four-year student assistant coach and manager at the University of Pittsburgh while Joe Lombardi was a Panther assistant.

Janovsky was an assistant coach at St. Lawrence University during the 2005-06 season after serving for one year as the coordinator of business operations for the Huntsville Flight of the National Basketball Developmental League.

St. Lawrence went 13-12 in 2005-06 as Janovsky and head coach Chris Downs were named the Coaching Staff of the Year in the Liberty League.

A native of Fayetteville, N.Y., Janovsky graduated from Pittsburgh in 2004 with a degree in finance. He worked under head coaches Ben Howland and Jamie Dixon and was a part of Panther teams that won three Big East regular season championships, one Big East tournament championship, made three NCAA Sweet 16 appearances and had a record of 107-30.

Janovsky completed an internship with the New York City Sports Commission in the summer of 2003 where his responsibilities included working on bids for the 2008 Super Bowl, the 2012 Olympic Games and many other sporting events in the city.

Basketball camps that Janovsky has worked include those at Pittsburgh, UCLA and in Ireland under Irish national coach Bill Dooley.
