Position:
Assistant Coach/Kickers and Punters

Gene Bicego is in his 23rd year on the IUP coaching staff and is in charge of the team's kickers and punters.

During his time at IUP, Bicego has worked with some of the finest kickers in school history. Mike Geary and Jon Ruff share the PSAC single season field goal record with 18 in 1993 and 1995, respectively, and Josh Telenko ranks sixth in conference history in points scored by a kicker with 242.

In 2007, Bicego took a pair of newcomers to the IUP roster -- sophomore Matt McNelis and freshman Craig Burgess -- and molded the duo into a until that combined to make 15 of 17 field goal tries, including all nine by McNelis, and 55 of 58 extra point attempts.

IUP kickers had a streak of 96 consecutive extra points made from the middle of the 2002 season until it was snapped against West Chester early in the 2005 campaign.

Bicego coached track and field at Homer-Center High School from 1972-78 and retired from his elementary teaching position at the school after 35 years. He is a 1970 graduate of Edinboro.

Bicego and his wife, June, reside in Indiana.
