Mike Campolo is in his seventh season on the IUP staff and fourth coaching the offensive line. Two years ago, he added the title of running game coordinator. Campolo was in charge of the running backs from 2002-04.

Campolo worked closely the with Jason Capizzi, a consensus All-American in 2006 and a free agent signee by the Pittsburgh Steelers after the April 2007 NFL draft. Rory Thomas, a senior on the 2007 Crimson Hawk team, was selected to play in the Cactus Bowl, the Division II all-star game.

Campolo was a four-year letterman for IUP from 1992-95, playing in 47 of 48 games and rushing for 984 yards and 20 touchdowns, including four in the playoffs in 1993 as IUP advanced to the national championship game. He ranks 12th in IUP history in rushing touchdowns.

As a senior in 1995, Campolo was voted captain and selected Most Inspirational Player by his coaches and teammates.

Prior to returning to his alma mater, Campolo was the running backs coach at Duquesne the previous three seasons. He served in the same capacity for one season each at Serra Catholic High School in 1997 and Bethany College the following year.

Campolo is a 1996 graduate of IUP with a bachelor's degree in communications media. His son, Vito, was born in April 2006.
