Spring Game Statistics

All three IUP quarterbacks threw touchdown passes, including two of at least 40 yards, while the run defense limited the rushing game to only 135 yards in the annual Crimson and Gray spring game Saturday at Miller Stadium.

The 48-minute scrimmage, divided into four 12-minute quarters, wrapped up three weeks of spring drills for the Crimson Hawks.

Andrew Krewatch, who set a school record with 3,100 passing yards while throwing for 29 touchdowns a year ago, completed 12 of 18 attempts for 130 yards and connected with Ken Witter on a six-yard touchdown.

Jeff Campbell, last year's backup quarterback, hit Cameron Mobley on a 50-yard score. A pair of redshirt freshmen, quarterback J.J. Townsend and wide receiver Roy-al Edwards, paired up on a 40-yard score. Townsend completed seven of eight passes for 86 yards while Campbell was five of seven for 70 yards.

Mobley is making his return to the IUP roster this year. He missed the past two seasons after being dismissed from the team by head coach Lou Tepper prior to the 2006 campaign.

Mobley saw extensive playing time as a true freshman in 2005, making 23 catches for 470 yards including the game-winning catch in an overtime victory at Catawba.

Mychal Skinner led the receiving corps with 80 yards on four catches. Mobley had four receptions for 57 yards, Edwards had 73 yards on four grabs and Witter made five receptions for 37 yards.

The other touchdown of the game came on a nine-run run by Michael McKenzie, who was on the roster but did not play last season. McKenzie set up his own score with a 49-yard run on the previous play and finished with 72 yards on six carries.

Except for the long run by McKenzie, the IUP running game was held in check. Tobias Robinson and Justin Warren, who are expected to see considerable action at tailback this fall, combined for only 22 yards on 15 attempts.

Robinson returned to the roster this spring after missing the 2007 season with a broken leg suffered early in fall camp last year. Warren is a transfer from the University of North Carolina who has one year of eligibility remaining. Kareem Dutrieuille, who is also in the tailback mix, did not play in Saturday's game.

Defensive statistics were not kept, but Rory Marshall did have the lone interception on the final play from scrimmage. Anthony Guerra was credited with a sack although quarterbacks were not allowed to be tackled.

Craig Burgess hit all three of his extra point attempts but misfired on field goal tries of 44 and 19 yards. Matt McNelis, who shared the kicking duties with Burgess last year, had offseason knee surgery and his status for the upcoming campaign is undetermined.
