April 17, 2008 Team Standings Individual Standings Gavin Smith shot a score of 74 to tie for second place at the St. Vincent Invitational Thursday at the Latrobe Country Club. IUP finished fifth in the team standings, 11 strokes behind the host Bearcats. The Crimson Hawks had a score of 320 and were one shot shy of fourth place Thomas More and six behind third place Clarion. Washington & Jefferson took second with a stroke total of 311. Smith's score was two-over par and tied him with Mark Fillari and Mike Grasso, both of Washington & Jefferson. Clarion's Jared Schmader was the medalist with an even par score of 72. Leo Acklin and Joey Reed both shot 81s to tie for 19th and Ryan Kennedy finished in a tie for 38th at 84. IUP will compete next in the PSAC/WVIAC tournament April 21-22 in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., before playing in the NCAA Division II East Region tournament May 5-7 in Middletown, Del. |
