IUP Finishes Third at PSAC-WVIAC Invitational in Final Tune-Up for NCAA Regional Tournament

Results

IUP shot a team score of 306 to finish in third place at the PSAC-WVIAC Invitational in its final tournament before the NCAA Division II East Regional.

The Crimson Hawks finished six shots behind champion Ohio Valley and five behind runner-up Clarion in the 12-team field. The tournament was shortened to one day due to rain.

Gavin Smith shot a 74 on the par 72 Cacapon State Park course in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., to tie for third, two shots behind Ohio Valley's Paul Raines. Brian Batko of California was second at 73.

Cory Stelick and Joe Pelland tied for 13th with rounds of 77. Leo Acklin was another shot back at 78 to tie for 20th, and Ryan Kennedy shot an 80 to tie for 26th.

The East Region tournament takes place May 5-7 in Middletown, Del. The Crimson Hawks enter the regional as the No. 1 ranked team in the region.
