IUP got three goals and an assist from Alex Slinkard but a late run of three straight goals enabled East Stroudsburg to break away for an 11-7 win Tuesday at Miller Stadium. The Warriors (6-1, 4-1 PSAC) led by only one goal after a tally by IUP's Alex Nocella made it 6-5 with 20:04 remaining in the game. The Crimson Hawks (1-3, 0-3) were unable to score for the next 16:19 as East Stroudsburg rebuilt its lead. By the time Slinkard scored her third goal of the game with 3:45 left, the Warriors had a 9-5 lead. IUP then cut it to 9-7 with 2:40 remaining on a goal by Amanda Fetter, but East Stroudsburg scored 28 seconds later and added a final tally in the waning seconds. Nocella and Fetter both had two goals for the Crimson Hawks. Kellie Caldwell had two assists and Kelly Kling had one. Katie Lee made 16 saves. Molly O'Hara paced the Warriors with four goals. Katie Fretz, Renee Maniscalco and Sara Foley each scored twice, and Kirstin Mayberry made eight saves. IUP is on the road for its next two games at Mercyhurst on Thursday and Bloomsburg on Saturday. |
