April 18, 2008 Lauren Abbott scored three goals and had an assist and Alex Slinkard also scored three times in IUP's 22-8 loss to Bloomsburg in a PSAC game Friday at Miller Stadium. Katie Lee made 29 saves for the Crimson Hawks (2-12, 1-10 PSAC). Cali Toms scored seven goals for the Huskies (8-5, 8-3) followed by Kim Springman with six and Kelsey Quigley with three. Bloomsburg held a 51-17 advantage in shots, including a 24-5 margin in the first half, but 18 saves by Lee kept IUP within 6-2 at intermission. Abbott then scored the opening goal of the second half to cut the Crimson Hawk deficit to only three goals. The Huskies then built an 11-4 lead before IUP scored three of the next four goals, cutting the Bloomsburg advantage to 12-7 on a goal by Kelly Kling with 14:23 left in the game. But the Huskies then scored the next eight goals to put the game out of reach. IUP plays at Slippery Rock on Monday before hosting West Chester Thursday in its final home contest of the season. |
