Kim Kowalski, Sarah Romasco Score Twice as IUP Routs California in Regular Season Finale



Sarah Romasco had two goals in IUP's regular season finale

Kim Kowalski and Sarah Romasco both scored two goals to lead IUP to an 8-2 rout of host California in the regular season finale. The Crimson Hawks now enter PSAC tournament play on Tuesday at Edinboro.

IUP snapped a two-game losing streak and upped its record to 12-7 overall and 6-4 in the PSAC West. The Crimson Hawks finished in third place in the conference standings, two points behind Edinboro. California concluded its season at 4-15-1 and 1-8-1 in the division.

Kowalski scored IUP's first two goals to give her six on the year, with assists going to Brittany Pikur and Romasco. Kowalski then assisted on a Ray Schreiner goal before the end of the first half.

Romasco got in on the goal scoring act at the outset of the second half. She scored her 19th and 20th goals of the year off assists from Pikur and Allison Keller. Romasco has two 20-goal seasons in as many years at IUP, including 21 as a freshman last year when she was the PSAC West Player of the Year.

Ashley Moyer, Carina Honeygosky and Meghan Shoff rounded out the goal scorers for IUP. Elysee Dluhos contributed an assist. Kelsey Dowling played the first 68 minutes in goal and made four saves while Sara Yingling made two in 22 minutes of action.

The IUP at Edinboro game in the PSAC tournament quarterfinal will begin at 1 p.m. The winner plays at Slippery Rock in the conference semifinals Friday at 4 p.m.
