Kristin Erb pitched a pair of shutouts and limited IUP to just three hits as the Bald Eagles swept a doubleheader from the Crimson Hawks by scores of 7-0 and 8-0 in the regular season finale Sunday.

The losses drop IUP into a third place tie with California in the PSAC West with records of 12-8, but the Vulcans will be the No. 2 seed out of the division on the strength of three wins in four games against the Crimson Hawks.

IUP (16-24 overall) will open conference tournament play Thursday at Lock Haven with a noon contest against Bloomsburg. The winner of that game will then face the host Bald Eagles at 4:30.

California plays East Stroudsburg in the first game of the tournament at 10 a.m., with the winner taking on East top seed Kutztown at 2:30.

Lock Haven, ranked third in the nation, finished its regular season at 40-6 overall and 19-1 in the PSAC West. The only loss suffered by the Bald Eagles in division play came at IUP in a 2-1, 10-inning game on April 15.

In Sunday's twinbill, Erb allowed singles to Alex Daughenbaugh and Jenny Rodgers in the first game and Kristen Tunno in the nightcap while striking out a total of 15 batters. Sarah Norris led the Lock Haven offense with two homers and five RBIs.
