Alex Daughenbaugh banged out three hits including an RBI triple in the sixth inning but that was the only offense IUP could produce in a 3-1 loss to Bloomsburg in the opening round of the PSAC tournament in Lock Haven.

The Crimson Hawks (16-25) dropped into the loser's bracket and will try to stay alive Friday at 10 a.m., when they take on California. The Vulcans lost to East Stroudsburg 9-0 in the first game of the tournament.

After a scoreless opening two innings, Bloomsburg broke through with two runs in the third against Erin Holloway. With two outs and runners on first and second, Danielle Lazorka doubled to drive in a pair and give the Huskies the lead.

Shannon Battison tripled to lead off the IUP third but was stranded at third by Husky pitcher Ashley Lynn. Daughenbaugh singled for the second time to start the fourth but again Lynn kept the Crimson Hawks off the scoreboard.

Bloomsburg made it 3-0 in the fifth. Tiff Corliss led off with a double, advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt and scored on a single by Tara Reed.

IUP finally broke through in the sixth. Dee Eppinger singled with one out and scored on Daughebaugh's triple. But Lynn retired the next two batters and set down the side in order in the seventh to wrap up the win for the Huskies.

Holloway allowed only three hits, walked four and struck out four in a complete game for IUP. Lynn fanned eight and did not walk a batter while pitching a five-hitter for Bloomsburg.
