IUP sophomore catcher Sam Goettman has been chosen to the NCAA Division II All-Mid-Atlantic Region second team for the second consecutive season. Goettman (Mars/North Allegheny) batted .244 while leading IUP with nine doubles and 23 RBIs and tying for the team lead with two home runs. She also paced the team with 15 walks and was third with 30 hits and 11 runs scored. Goettman is also one of the top defensive catchers in the PSAC. Goettman had both of her home runs and drove in five runs in a PSAC West win over Slippery Rock and knocked in three runs in victories over Millersville and Clarion. Her five games with multiple RBIs were the most on the team. IUP finished the 2008 season with a record of 17-26 and qualified for the PSAC playoffs. |
