Andriana Nunic and Caitlin Heston both won their first match before being eliminated at the PSAC individual championship at Shippensburg. Nunic earned a first round bye and then defeated Shana Morris of East Stroudsburg, 6-4, 6-1. Nunic pushed Slippery Rock's Kayla Blackburn to a second set tiebreaker before dropping a 6-3, 7-6 decision. Heston defeated Mandie Rutt of East Stroudsburg, 6-0, 6-1, in the first round and then fell to Nina Kowalski of California, 6-1, 6-0. Nunic and Heston also teamed up in the doubles tournament. After receiving a bye in the first round, the duo lost to the Slippery Rock tandem of Kayla and Samantha Blackburn, 8-0. The tournament was the final event of the fall season for IUP. The spring season gets under way in April. |
